5 Ways to Keep Visitors Coming Back

by Kim and Charles Petty

A lot of successful websites depend on returning visitors to account for a major part of their traffic. Returning visitors are easier to convert into paying customers because the more often they return to a site, the more trust they have in that site. The credibility issue just melts away. Hence, keep your visitors coming back to your site with the following methods:

1) Start a forum, chatroom or shoutbox

When you start a forum, chatroom or shoutbox, you are providing your visitors a place to voice their opinions and interact with their peers — all of them are visitors of your site. As conversations build up, a sense of community will also follow and your visitors will come back to your site almost religiously every day.

2) Start a web log (blog)

Keep an online journal, or more commonly known as a blog, on your site and keep it updated with latest news about yourself. Human beings are curious creatures and they will keep their eyes glued to the monitor if you post fresh news frequently. You will also build up your credibility as you are proving to them that there is also a real life person behind the website.

3) Carry out polls or surveys

Polls and surveys are other forms of interaction that you should definitely consider adding to your site. They provide a quick way for visitors to voice their opinions and to get involved in your website. Be sure to publish polls or surveys that are strongly relevant to the target market of your website to keep them interested to find out about the results.

4) Hold puzzles, quizzes and games

Just imagine how many office workers procrastinate at work every day, and you will be able to gauge how many people will keep visiting your site if you provide a very interesting or addicting way of entertainment. You can also hold competitions to award the high score winner to keep people trying continuously to earn the prize.

5) Update frequently with fresh content

Update your site frequently with fresh content so that every time your visitors come back, they will have something to read on your site. This is the most widely known and most effective method of attracting returning visitors, but this is also the least carried out one because of the laziness of webmasters. No one will want to browse a site that looks the same over ten years, so keep your site updated with fresh bites!

Reverse Cell Phone – Lookup the name of a caller in one click

by Jacques S Eskena

Mr. Cooper of Motorola caused quite a stir when back in 1973 he used his then 30 ounce portable phone to call one of his rivals at AT&T. Walking in the streets of New York he was making the first ever real cell phone call.

In 1983, ten short years later, Mr. Cooper yet again made history by introducing a 16 ounce Motorola cell phone. Seven years later, in 1990, there were over one million users of cell phones.

With more cell phone subscribers today than the “old” land line telephones, the cell phone phenomena has impacted our society and we now have units that weigh in at less than 3 ounces!

From Dad to Mom, to our teenagers, families throughout the world have embraced this new technology and it is now not uncommon to see our younger kids (less than 10 years old) receive their own cell phones!

Unfortunately, cell phone records are not part and parcel of the public records psyche and thus are often used by unsavory characters such as online predators who through the internet try to lure our unsuspecting kids into giving them their cell phone numbers.

Online predators pose an all together too familiar threat, widely reported in our media today, and throughout the nation, concerned parents worry that their own kids might fall prey to these characters. Whilst a kid should never be allowed to be contacted by an adult unless specifically authorized by their parents, parents should indeed immediately alert the local police and even the police if it does happen.

But cell companies do not willingly give out information which they consider private, and it can indeed be very difficult for anyone to be traced back using a cell phone number. What can parents do then?

It is possible to trace back the name and address of anyone who calls a cell phone by doing a reverse cell phone search and even though this is not a free service, at $14.95, it is unlikely to break the bank.

Designer T-Shirts – Your Own Personal Attire

by Kathy Austin

There are T-Shirts and T-Shirts; funny t-shirts, cool t-shirts, those t-shirts and these t-shirts covering just about any subject on earth. But there is one t-shirt that is unique – and that is the “Designer” T-Shirt. Now, don’t for a moment think that these distinctive kind of t-shirts are a recent phenomenon. Thomas E. Dewey toyed with the “Dew-IT with Dewey” T-Shirt during his 1948 Presidential campaign and Dwight D. Eisenhower had the “I Like Ike” custom t-shirt with which he won the Presidency in 1952. These are designer t-shirts. T-shirts designed for a specific purpose at a specific time. They may have passed out of the memory of most people, but they served their purpose.

There is no hard and fast rule that designer t-shirts should be created for a sole purpose and then fade away into oblivion, but can be designed even to satisfy ones whims and fancies. It can be verbal or graphical and is left solely to the wearer’s penchant for it. It can be even used to express your particular point of view a particular subject.

The design of custom t-shirts can be said to be the offspring of one percent inspiration and ninety nine percent perspiration – to fall back on a saying attributed to Thomas Edison, the famous inventor. The idea for a particular t-shirt may spring suddenly into your mind, that’s inspiration; the rest is perspiration – hard work – hours and even days of trying to get the idea on to paper and create that perfect image. A twist of a use of a font, a color or shape.

For an individual creating a designer t-shirt throws up a lots of ifs and buts. Menacing questions that tends to confuse and discourage. And in these days when practically every other thing requires a good workable knowledge of the use of a computer, even more questions:

Do I have an aptitude for drawing? Should I first learn how to draw? What are the principles of design? Where can I learn the basics of computer usage? What computer program should I use? Who is going to teach me to use these programs?

The use of computers is not difficult to learn. Most of the programs come with built in help facilities for you to fall back on when stumped. Both online and offline tutorials are also available for just about all computer programs. If you do not have an aptitude for computer use, the Internet abounds with web sites that offer consultation services. Consultants will convert your idea into original, personalized designer t-shirts for a fee.

If you do not have the capacity, the time or even the inclination to use them, do not despair, help is still available. There are Consultants who will give shape to your concepts. Their services can be obtained in person or through the Internet. A few head-to-head interactions with them will soon have your ideas given shape. It is that simple.

The acquisition of a designer t-shirt now throws up another pertinent question. How is to be used? Well, you can selfishly keep it to your self or get a number of them for gifting to either your relatives or your friends. Specifically designed t-shirts can be used to endorse a particular product or even a specific cause. It may be given away as a corporate gift. It is only limited by your imagination.

How Persuasive Writing Increases Book Sales

by Kalinda Rose Stevenson, PhD

Persuasive writing is a mindset that focuses on the reader rather than the topic. Writing to persuade means that you never forget that you are writing to persuade a reader.

Many writers fall into a “topic trap” when they pay more attention to the topic of the book than the potential reader of the book. The topic trap mindset doesn’t ask why any reader would care enough about the topic of the book to buy it and read it.

You might not realize how much a book is an interaction between the writer and the reader. In fact, a book is an interactive medium. You might not think so when you spend so many hours working by yourself to write it, facing the blank page or the empty screen.

When you publish a book, your primary objective is to persuade readers to buy and read the book. It is easy to forget this objective during the writing process, when you are alone with your book. The more you can keep your potential reader involved in the writing process, from the beginning, the better it will be.

With the topic trap mindset, writers begin with the question: What is the book about? With a persuasive writing mindset, writers begin with a different question: Who would want to read this book? An even more important question to ask is: Who would actually pay to read this book?

For a moment, imagine that your book is finished and available in the bookstores. When a potential book buyer picks up your book, you only have a few seconds to turn your book browser into a book buyer.

Although we are living in what is called “the Information Age,” writers with a persuasive writing mindset understand that many book buyers don’t want more information. They want to find a solution to a problem.

How do you make sure that your book solves a problem for your targeted reader? The best way is to focus your book on a problem-solving thesis.

The most basic requirement of writing to persuade is that your book solves the reader’s problem.

This means that a persuasive writing mindset is also a strategy that will increase your book sales. The more you can persuade a potential reader that your book is the solution to a problem the reader wants to solve, the more likely the reader will buy and read your book.

Digital Camcorder Ratings Determine The Best Of The Best

by Steven Wade

When you have gone and bought a digital camcorder, your main reason why you buy it is to capture those moments you never want to forget. Your child’s first steps or first words, someone else’s wedding ,your wedding , or those unexpected funny moments, your anniversary, or any other event that you want to capture for all time.

You would like the quality, a clear picture and crystal sound, and you crave all the features that you can get for as little dosh as possible. Going through all the choices at your local electronics store, however, leaves you confused. They all seem the same and some boast more features than others but most people have no clue on how to determine which ones are worth the dosh. It’s not until they get home that most people find out what they actually paid for. Some are surprised and some feel very ripped off.

Don’t be one of those people who feels ripped off. Before you pay any of your hard earned dosh on your next digital camcorder, look up some digital camcorder ratings. These can tell you which ones are worth your money and which ones aren’t, and also which ones will suit your needs.

Electronic Magazines

Magazines such as Consumer Reports and other mags that feature the latest electronic products and girls in swimsuits are perfect places to find digital camcorder ratings. It really depends on what you’re looking for.

If you’re like most people, however, you want a digital camcorder that’s lightweight, has a long battery life, has a rechargeable battery, has all the bells and whistles, and you just want a digital camcorder that has a crystal clear picture and sound. These digital camcorder ratings that you find in these magazines are written by experts who have no affiliation to the company who makes the various products. That means the digital camcorder ratings are impartial and precise. That means you can take their advice on which camcorders are worth your hard earned dough.

The Internet

Another fantastic place to find digital camcorder ratings is online. Electronic forums and consumer report websites all boast ratings on all kinds of products. Make sure the website has no affiliation to the digital camcorder companies they’re rating but this can also give you a great idea as to which camcorders to buy.

Using the digital camcorder ratings properly, you can feel sure that the next time you have to capture something on film that you’re going to get every bit of the footage you want, in all the clarity you could ask for, because you bought a quality product from a quality company. This is why taking your time and going through digital camcorder ratings is a must as the end results are you get exactly what you want.

Tupperware Dealers – Is This A Home Business For You?

by Chris Gatenby

It can take years and years to build a solid brand that consumers trust. When evaluating home business opportunities don’t overlook the benefit of a solid brand name. It is easy to be swept up in the excitement over the latest start-up but it is important to also look at the benefits of having a proven company, marketing program and product line.

Tupperware gets its name from the inventor of the product, Earl Silas Tupper who came up with the airtight container design way back in 1946. Since then, the company has built a solid reputation for quality products and for standing behind them.

Tupper was a pioneer in direct marketing, and his product is sold today in almost 100 countries around the world. After World War II, many women returned home after working. At that time and since then, it is a symbol of independence and empowerment for women, giving them an opportunity in the business world. Products are sold through variations of the party plan with commissions for consultants and the hostess.

There are many ways to participate in Tupperware so you can choose the one that suits you. A Membership Only arrangement allows you to purchase at a discount. If you want to take orders and do parties, you can become a Book Order Specialist. Those interested in working with religious organizations, schools and non-profits can go into the Fund-Raising Specialty. They have an Internet Specialist role if you want to market online. Demonstration Specialists do a variety of promotions including parties. Recruiters belong to the Royalty Program to bring in new reps.

The cost to get involved with Tupperware is reasonable with an Executive Business Kit offered at $130. It includes what you need to start doing parties. There is even a smaller Quick Start Kit for those on a tight budget.

The rewards of selling Tupperware come in the form of commissions up to 35% on your sales, royalties on new reps that you personally recruit and various incentives you can earn such as free products, trips, jewelry and even autos. The company provides free training and support for its reps, including one on one coaching and conference calls.

The brand recognition that Tupperware gives its distributors an advantage since prospective customers will often have heard of the product. A flexible program allows you to choose a market niche that you are comfortable pursuing and the support is there.

The one reservation that I have about Tupperware is the fact that it lasts a long time so how do you get repeat sales? I would be tempted to have a nice consumable product to promote alongside my Tupperware. For instance, how about Xocai Healthy Chocolate? It’s a chocolate health food that everyone loves…and they reorder it.

Online Video Search Optimization and Marketing Tips

by Mark Robertson

Online video and video search is HOT! You have surely seen all the buzz on the internet about sites like youtube, blinkx, etc… With this, bloggers have been writing posts about how to shoot video, how to upload videos to these sites, etc… However, few have provided information on how to get these videos seen and discovered. Here enters Video SEO.

To have a success in video search engine optimization, you should have knowledge of some key technical aspects involving online video and search.

Keyword research is important for Video search engine optimization. However, there are some key differences in terms of the methods that should be employed for keyword researching video terms. In order to know your target audience for seeing your videos, it is important to first conduct some research on keywords and compile a keyword list. This list can be obtained by doing some simple searches for a related product or service. There are not yet any keyword research tools specifically for video. Keep in mind that video searches at this point tend to be shorter keywords, not “long tail” searches. In addition, more than anything, your keyword list should have the word “video” in it. Examples – car videos, car video, racing video, automotive videos, etc….

Once you are through with this, next step is to look across the top video search platforms having the highest performance in overall views, ratings, and latency. The only way to measure your success is to view count.

You should also keep a track of the audience already searching for your targeted terms. In case you fail to find the same, find the closest related terms being searched. In video search engine optimization user feedback plays a very vital role.

Make sure that when you add your video to the video search sites that you allow users to comment on your videos. Videos that enable users to comment tend to get much more traffic. In addition, those users that do comment and provide feedback are more often the users that will result in a conversion.

If your video is popular in the video SERPs, you get the opportunity to submit fresh content. Many websites make a common mistake by providing the same content again and again. Don’t make your video content to simply repeat what’s already out there, instead, finding a fresh “content space” for your target keyword term.

Another important factor to know is that typically, users do not watch videos that are long and drawn out. Instead, users want quick snacks of video content, usually viewing no more than a few minutes of a video. If you have a video that is many minutes long, consider creating several shorter clips for your video ranging from 1-3 minutes in total length.

You can even put the actual branding inside the video, such as text or domain name or specific URL as a graphic in the video. Of course, getting users back to your website or business is one great result for doing video SEO in the first place.

So, if you want to get your video discovered, view, and consumed by more and more users, video search engine optimization is the way to go. This is a great new technique for getting maximum exposure to your business, and currently, this is such a new topic, that you can be one of the first to capture your keyword or theme with a video search result.

Can Vista be tweaked?

by Baysil Steinberg

Although Vista is new, and fast, sometimes it can seem a bit bogged down. Too many programs and not enough resources could be your problem. This could be due to having Vista Aero enabled. Aero is a resource consuming hog.

Vista Aero will literally eat up your available resources and leave you with not much left at all. Its a spectacular group of features which include helpful animations, transparent menu bars, visual effects and thumbnail previews.

Aero is setup as the default theme for Vista. Disabling it frees up allot of resources and you should notice a difference in the system after you disable it. You will still have the Vista look, but not the resource hogging effects.

Once you disable Aero you will lose the 3-D flip option for your desktop so please take that into consideration before you decide to disable Aero. Its not a definite necessity but some people like it.
