Foundations in Panama: Asset Protection Offshore

by Reginald R. Nicholsonian

There are a multitude of reasons you could consider moving your assets to an offshore tax haven that are perfectly legal and legitimate. Some examples include; increased financial privacy and protection from frivolous litigation at home, fears over your local banking system or local government instability to name a few. Panama is unique in the world as it offers many methods for protecting your wealth through layered strategies that include the Panama private interest foundation or PPIF which is a nearly bullet proof asset protection vehicle when used properly.

The Panama Foundation was created by the legislative arm of Panama’s government in 1995 and can be thought of as a form of marriage between trusts and wills with the protective benefits associated with Panama offshore companies. The statutes that underpin this asset protection structure were inspired by the “Stiftung” model that was first introduced in Liechtenstein. In general, a Panama Foundation has:

– the Founder, which is the person who creates the foundation and provides the initial funding (must be at least $10,000); – Council, can be thought of as a board of directors which are recorded in the public registry; Protector, which is appointed by council at the creation of the Foundation; Beneficiary, must be appointed by the Protector and can remain anonymous.

The real strength of the Private interest foundation is provided to the protector and beneficiaries by the protector. For example, you may want to use your Panama foundation as an asset protection buffer against unfavorable inheritance laws in your country. Panama’s foundation laws protect the rights of the protector upon their death by not charging an inheritance tax on the foundations assets.

In order to ensure that a Panama foundation is set up properly you will need to create letters of instruction in the event of the protector’s death. These letters of instruction spell out what should happen to the assets of the foundation and who the beneficiary should be. There is no requirement to publish who the beneficiary of a foundation is and these instructions can be kept safely private until such time as they are required.

Unlike a Panama Corporation, the PPIF is expressly prohibited from engaging in commercial business activity. However, they may carry out commercial activities such as owning corporations that are actively engaged in commercial business activities, provided the profits of those activities are used for the purposes for which the foundation exists. As with all Panamanian entities, tax is not levied on income derived outside Panama.

Panama law guarantees the assets of a PPIF against sequestration and embargo provided the Foundation does not engage in illegal activity. This prevents assets being frozen as a protective measure prior to a court trial.

The Panama private interest foundation can provide wonderful offshore asset protection provided you set up the foundation properly. This author highly suggest using a knowledgeable law firm in Panama.

Ideals For Better Business Card Composition

by Chris Channing

The heart of the business world has revolved around business cards for decades. But only recently have technological advances changed the face of business cards as we knew them only a few decades ago. If businesses are going to maintain a healthy client base, such advances should be taken advantage of.

The best way to attract attention to a business card is to make it exciting. And with only a few colors, the level of excitement of business cards from decades ago were far from innovative or creative. But thanks to advances in printing, it is now possible to obtain real-color images on business cards with very inexpensive prices to boot- something that should always be taken advantage of.

It is always important to take advantage of any inexpensive tricks of the trade- and thermography is one of them. Through this process, the lettering on a business card can be raised so as to give a special texture to the business card. And because it is indeed expensive, it’s a very cost effective way to grab attention.

Golden and glossed effects have also been shown to give business cards a bit of pizazz that would otherwise not be present. These flashy effects are often more expensive on average, but the extra attention can lead to better chances in making business contacts, repeat customers, or even new clients. Thus, the extra cost is often worth it in the long run.

The classic rectangle shape that the business card has came to be is also starting to become history. Newer and flashier designs will use bevels, grooves, and even entirely different shapes in order to attract the attention of recipients. These reshaping techniques will likely cost more on average as well, but again, sometimes the price is more than worth it.

There isn’t always a need to follow crowds when it comes to business cards. In some cases, using exotic materials with a business card’s design can mean all the difference. Obtaining custom carved wooden cards, metal, magnets, or even cloth all turn heads when presented. It is always sure to bring more attention to the card, although the prices are always drastically higher than the normal business card.

For business card owners, it’s nice to have technology work harder to create less expensive ways to obtain or distribute business cards. using CDs or even transmitting business cards over a wireless connection have both become prominent alternatives to the classic business card- and both prove to be very cost effective in the long run.

Overall, the business card world hasn’t changed much since its inception. Newer technologies are seeking to change that, however, and it might not be long before all the print and ink business cards are a thing of the past. But until that happens, always consider the extra design effects that come from shaping, coloring, and even deforming business cards as we know them in order to receive extra attention from potential customers. After all, the extra attention can go a long way in the world of business.

Tips for Better PPC Management

by Josh Prizer

One of the driving forces in the PPC algorithms is your Click Through Rates. Spending time, effort and even investing in a PPC expert can help you to double or triple those rates. Not only will that increase your traffic, but it will lower your costs per click.

There are a lot of ways to improve click through rates. Most of them require some rolling up of the sleeves and some consistent effort. If you are not up for that, then consider hiring a PPC management company to do that work for you.

Relevant Keywords

Consider the person typing in the keyword you are advertising on. They want information on that topic. So, make your ad copy speak to them. Put the keyword phrase into your ad copy, if possible. Of course, this may not be easy to accomplish if you have one of those typical PPC accounts that pile keywords into ad groups. But the more you can address the person doing the search, the more your ad will interest them.

Unfortunately, if you have one of those accounts with tons of keywords under just a few ad groups, you may need to restructure your entire account. Again, not a pretty process scrapping all the work you have done. And, again, this might be an area where you consider outsourcing to a professional.

Hunting for Negative Keywords

Click Through Rates are determined by the number of ads that get clicked divided by the number of impressions that were served. With that in mind, you want to make sure you are not serving up ads on keywords you don’t want to appear on. When you search for keywords that you want to advertise on, also take note of those other variations that you don’t want to appear on. Compiling these and using them appropriate can help drive up your CTRs.

Ad Copy Improvement

Probably the most labor-intensive, but important items that can make an impact on your CTRs is better ad copy. And while things like a call to action or a value statement of some kind are key…split testing is even more critical.

Split tests are simply running and testing multiple ads on the same keyword. This may appear easy, but there are a variety of factors that come to play. What to test? How long to test them? How often to run split tests? Etc. We could get into discussing mathematical formulas to determine when is a valid split test done, but your eyes may glaze over. If you can commit yourself to daily testing, for continual effort and time…you will make an impact. Sure, you might make mistakes, but the real key here is effort. It will pay off.

While there is a lot more to PPC optimization than improving your CTRs, it is certainly a good place to focus on. If your business is in a competitive marketplace, where keywords are expensive, you ought to consider protecting and refining your investment by hiring a professional PPC management company. If that’s not a possibility, then make that commitment to more time and effort. It will make an impact.

Experience + Research = Credible Writing

by Steven E

Credible writing starts with sound research. Then use your own experience to develop your material and you will write more authentically.

1. Define your reasons for writing Who is your targeted reader? Where – and why – is he likely to meet problems? How much does he already know? What special knowledge do you have that can help him? What else do you need to find out? You cannot help your reader if you do not gain his respect.

2. Plan your methods of research Revisit some of your favorite manuals or textbooks to refresh the basics. Read through recently published articles on your subject. You want your own article to be current. When searching the web for background material, include the word “problems” along with the name or description of the object of your piece (e.g. “XYZ Ion Regenerator problems”). That will get you into company-sponsored user forums where you can discuss what problems real people are concerned with today. Be prepared to sift through a volume of conflicting advice; here is where experience is absolutely necessary. Never try to wing it. If you have never actually used the XYZ Ion Regenerator, it would be too easy to misunderstand the subtleties, obscurities and downright misinformation common to open technical forums. That would surely destroy your credibility.

3. Write from personal experience Include problems that you have faced, and solutions that you have found; that establish your credibility at once. Real knowledge gained from experience zings with authority. Respect the semantic link between author and authority. As an example, anyone could slap together a fair article on dog training. With 40 million web sites about this one subject, all you would have to do is skim through a few of them and cherry pick some thoughts. But if you are unable to structure your article around real anecdotes concerning dogs you have trained, your words will ring hollow.

4. Work experience as valid research “Write what you know.” Old advice that is equally valid for writers of all genres. Base your writing on what you actually know and back it up with fresh research. For instance, have you ever worked as a dishwasher? Good, then you should realize the difference between washing dishes in a restaurant and doing so in a cafeteria. In a cafeteria, the panic is always over flatware when people are pressing into line for a quick lunch and can’t find any clean forks. (For some reason, the stainless steel seems to get dumped into the garbage along with the leftovers. Garbage cans in cafeterias now have magnets to prevent this.) In a restaurant, on the other hand, the endless mountains of pots and pans from preparing many individual meals simultaneously are what kill dishwashers. (Not all cooks are quick to get their used cookware back to the scullery, causing recurring crises as the dishwasher struggles with waves of encrusted pots.) Once you have this authentic background, can you find something useful there? Does it suggest an article about laborsaving practices, or a short story about personality clashes behind those kitchen doors? As a babysitter, you might develop a great article about how to put children at ease before their parents leave. Or, while reading aloud to the kids, you notice which stories they demand again and again. There is your research! Now make up some stories of your own. Test them on your charges; which ones do they keep asking for? You are now fine-tuning your first children’s book.

Write from the strength of personal experience fortified by solid research. Sound research is its own reward; it leads you to what you need to write. Experience suggests how to structure your writing for credibility.

The Role of Crisis Communication in Public Relations

by Amy Nutt

It is important for an organization to have one or more spokespeople who are experienced and can stay calm when communicating during a crisis. Crisis communication is how people know what is going on and it is very important when it comes to public relations. This is why it is important to have an adequate number of spokespeople for your organization because sometimes it isn’t sufficient enough to have just one person doing the talking. It looks better on the public relations side of things if you have more than one who are both on the same page and can effectively speak to the media and people on a face-to-face basis.

There are several things that must be done in crisis communication. It isn’t just a matter of looking at the situation and coming up with a response within five minutes. To give a proper response, it is important to evaluate the situation and follow a certain set of rules to make sure the public gets the adequate information. These steps are:

– Developing and delivering at least three key points about the situation. These messages must be relayed in such a way that everyone can understand what is being said. Sometimes these messages do not have to be anything extensive, depending on the situation. Such an example is when a company is going through a lawsuit. Most companies do not allow commenting on pending litigation, so the spokesperson may simply say, “no comment.”

– Make sure that all employees are up-to-date on what is going on. This creates consistency and allows for adequate response for various situations that may arise during a crisis. Many times this interaction should take place face-to-face instead of in a memo.

– Make sure you identify who can be trusted with information and who cannot be. These can be considered your unofficial spokespersons if they must be asked questions. These are the people who will adhere to what you tell them to say. In crisis communication, it is important to stay sensitive to various pieces of information that could cause an even bigger issue.

– A rumor-control system should be put in place. This means that the system must be up and running, allowing others to ask questions and get immediate answers before they begin communicating their speculations with others. What starts out as a question soon becomes fact when it is passed from person-to-person. This can cause a situation to become much more difficult. Rumors result in new issues that must be given attention. This can take attention away from the issue at hand.

Just make sure that those on the inside know exactly what is going on because they are just as important as those on the outside wanting to know what the crisis is, how it is going to impact them, and how to rectify the situation. It is even fair to develop key messages for employees, but to have key messages that are used for those on the outside as well. It is important to implement a system and a strategy that will not cause any type of mass panic, depending on the situation. Sometimes those situations are limited to a company and other times they can influence an entire population.

Just be sure to not jump the gun. Instead, develop strategies that will relay the message effectively. Both inside and outside communication go hand-in-hand in order for things to run smoothly. This shows that crisis communication in public relations is very important when ensuring the safety of people, their affairs, and of those directly involved with the situation.
