The root cause of procrastination is caused by falling victim of laziness. Do you often suffer because something you considered easy has turned difficult because it is now due?

However, you must realize that you will experience true comfort, if you get rid of your laziness by shaking yourself up into action. You may draw comfort from the fact that you are in the company of many that are affected by procrastination. Like many others, you can indeed stop procrastinating and start meeting deadlines, by following a few simple steps that teach you effective time management.

1. Plan your daily must-do activities. Make up a to-do list; preferably, write it down on paper; or, use a computer if you prefer.

2. Prioritize the activities, if there are urgent things to do, but not important enough to be worried about if not done, put them below the important ones. The more important ones taking precedence over the less important. The idea is based on the established principle that 80% of rewards accrue from 20% of effort directed towards accomplishing important work.

3. Estimate the time required for each of the listed activities after analyzing their complexity. Avoid overestimation, for that may leave some activities without enough time. Avoid underestimation, as you may not have enough time to do well a particular piece of work. Similarly, a realistic budgeting of time is necessary. Time allocation is a skill that is acquired with experience. So keep reviewing, and revising your time schedule as you progress.

4. Organize your life. Remember lack of discipline causes confusion, even chaos, in your life. Avoid sloppiness. For instance, leave your personal belongings of daily use, like your glasses, your clothing, your computer etc., in the same place. It eats into your time when you can’t find something you need right now. If you stay organized, you will avoid wasting your precious time and leave more time for the actual work. Apply the principle of doing work first and then taking time for pleasure and relaxation. Reverse the order only at the pain of falling prey to procrastination. You can get time for rest and relaxation if you are efficient in doing your assigned work.

5. Break you work into small segments. You may see a mountain at first, but mountains can be moved, especially if you begin by moving just a small stone from it. You know you cannot move the entire mountain all at once. Do not let the presumed immensity of the task deter you. If you do you will put off the task for another day, which will never come. Just begin by taking one small step and you will reach your destination.

6. Remember procrastination grows into a habit by the minute. Begin your day by launching yourself head first into the most important job waiting to be done. Do the simple things first early in the day.

7. Learn to cope with anxiety, depression, stress and other similar conditions of the mind related to your problems in life. Keep yourself fit, not just physically but mentally as well. Learn and practice suitable mental relaxation techniques such as meditation.

Congratulations on your new iPod nano! You’re going to enjoy it. There’s a couple accessories you’l want though, and the first is usually an iPod nano holder. Here’s some tips to help you get started.

Deciding on an iPod nano holder can be more challenging than you think. You’ll find different cases for different purposes, and in different styles.

For less than 10 dollars you can get a silicone film covering, a faux leather flip case, and a few plastic belt clips. But that’s just the starting point. You can get nano holders for your workouts, for fashion statements, to protect from wind and rain, and more.

How will the iPod nano fit into your life?

Take a minute to think through your day. When do you want your nano? Would you like background music in the house when you’re starting your day? Maybe you want music for your workouts. Do you plan to listen to podcasts on the bus (train, plane)? How about when you’r driving? Will you be outside much? Are you (like me) likely to drop the nano and want it protected?

Now that you’ve thought about it, you probably realize you need a couple different holders. For example, I use a leather and snakeskin holder during my commutes and have a Belkin neoprene armband for my workouts.

While You Exercise:

When working out you need to protect it from drops, bumps, and bangs. You’ll want easy access to the iPod nano without it getting in the way. Most exercisers use an armband.

If you do a solid workout, you’ll want to get a sweat-resistant armband. (You don’t want your nano getting wet.) I have a neoprene armband with a plastic film front cover and a cord keeper. Armbands do have a downside, as it can be hard to see the display if you want to change the playlist.

If you’d prefer to carry your iPod nano when working out you’ll want a slip-proof cover. I suggest a silicone cover thick enough to also provide a little shock absorption if (or is it when?) you drop it.

Commuting to Work

Some professions require a conservative, professional image. If a put-together appearance is critical you’ll want a leather iPod nano cover. You can get them in wallet-fold or flip-top styles. They’ll project the image you need. Consider a leather case that has a lining to protect your nano from scratches.

If you’re lucky enough not to be in a conservative job you get a lot more leeway in your choices. You just need to decide if you’re more interested in being practical or stylish and go from there. The next paragraphs will help.

Being Practical:

Decide if practicality is important to you. You may need a belt clip to help you keep track of the nano. You might also want protection against wind and rain if you’re outside a lot.

If you’re a klutz like me, you’ll want to protect your iPod nano against bumps and drops. Ditto for if your nano will be rattling around at the bottom of your purse or briefcase. Look for a hard case, or at lease one with reinforced corners.

Last but not least, style:

While a lot of iPod nano owners stop at practicality, some of us also look for fashion. We want our nanos to look a little less geeky, or to express a little style.
